Independent Hotel (Closed Permanently)

(11 Ratings)
Charming boutique hotel
In a renovated historical building, this 24 room hotel (including 2 suites) is close to Philly's gay action and theater scene. A nice perk is that free bottle of Prosecco when you stay at this charming little hotel.

Not as inviting as it used to be

For a boutique hotel you'd hope for inviting. This place no longer has that feeling. It used to be my go to for work travel but something has changed and for what it is you'd hope for friendlier service. Maybe it was just an off week but it was disappointing from previous experiences.

Pleasantly Surprised!

Great little boutique hotel in a an amazing location! My room was very nicely decorated, very comfortable.. No complaints which is unusual for me!! I had very little staff interaction but the cute guy at the front desk was very nice! Highly recommended!

Best place like...EVERRRRRRRRRRR :)

As a proud male non-heterosexual gay man...The independence hotel is the hottest gay action place for me! They never make you feel unwelcome, for bringing home 3,4, sometimes 5 men dressed as women in biker outfits heavily chained/pierced/tattooed. I also recommend this hotel for straight people. But lets be honest...WE"RE HERE>>>WE"RE QUEER>>>GET USED TO IT!!!/

Very good!

We stayed here in May of 09. Don't be fooled by their location or outside. GREAT rooms, complimentary morning breakfast is brought to your room. Parking is awful in downtown Philly, but they have a very inexpensive parking lot 1/2 block away that is very secure. Within walking distance to several of the gay bars and restaurants. We particulary enjoyed KNOCKS bar and restaurant. Just about 3 blocks from the Theatre district of town where you can see some gay Broadway plays.
