They call this "Bump" because that's all you do as you try to squeeze your way through, spilling your $10 martini. It is LOUD (bad acoustics) and the bar space is tiny. Atmosphere is retro cool. Food is mediocre, allthough they do have 1/2 price Tues & Sat.

Cute place to sit down with a martini and talk to my friends while a few classy trannys run by. Fun times!

Bump's architecture is interesting. Check out the rest-rooms, which are really cool. The rest of the place is LOUD (you heard me); the service is PRETTY CRAPPY (you heard me); the various coloured drinks are OVERPRICED (you heard me); the food is MEDIOCRE (you heard me); and in essence, it FAILS to be a "mixed gay/straight" place. It succeeds in being CONFUSING, LOUD, AND BORING.

***** Attractive but bland
Posted: March 09, 2007
This is an attractive bar with a mixed crowd of men and women, gays and straights, different ages. Bartenders tend to be straight men and women. Like most mixed lounges, it doesn't have much character of its own and emerges a bit bland, although undoubtedly it's a perfectly pleasant place to hang out for conversation with people you already know. Definitely not cruisy. More like a gay-friendly straight bar than anything else. Philly and NY may have different ideas of what's hip, but this place isn't exactly what I would call hip. The smoke is gone -- you can't smoke in Philly bars anymore, which has many bar-hoppers grumbling, as in New York.

I never miss a visit to Bump when I'm in the city. Friendly staff, great food, cute boys. The music is a bit too loud sometimes, but there is always something fun going on in here. Just don't plan on sitting; the bar stools fill up fast!

Bump is so smokey the only way you could enjoy a drink there is if you bring an oxygen tank and mask with you. The lighting, the ceiling and walls are so yellowed from the smoke that is is almost unbearable...not hip just another smokey dive.

And what a place to drink! I really love this place.. Great atmosphere, lots of great looking guys. The foods not half bad, either! It seems to be the place everyone stops by before they go clubbing.
