Sansom Street Gym

A different sort of gym...
It may technically be a gym, but a different sort of all-body workout is the norm here. Check the website for daily specials and events.

Since the onset of COVID, most bathhouses have been closed completely or operating at reduced capacity and amenities. This one was no different. I’ve always had a good time here because it is huge, with a lot of good dark alleys and play areas inside. NYC is horrible for baths so I decided to take a trip down and reacquaint myself with the old stomping grounds. I called today (7/6/2021) and got the nicest young man on the phone. Julian. He could not have been more patient or helpful answering my questions. Truly represented this establishment well. Looking forward to coming to visit soon.

So I'm currently here... I went to the front because my TV doesn't work.. I was told they are not working (which is a lie) but all of the other TV's in rooms are on and I went in an empty room and turned one on to check... And it is indeed on. So even though I paid just as much as everyone else to get in here they don't seem to honor fair business practices. So, I'd like to know who the owner is ideally but until then, I'll just bitch to every review place and person I know. I even tipped the front desk guy... Big mistake, huge.

Came in on a Tuesday around 2pm. On their website it says they are running a half-priced room special on Tuesdays. I thought it would be a great opportunity to check the place out and maybe come back on a weekend. When I was buzzed in, I was "greeted" by a dude who looked like he had just woken up from a nap in the back. When I asked about the special, he said it was only for members and gave me a blank stare. He said, If you aren't a member it would be $35. I said, that's not what it says on the website. Non-member rate on the Tuesday special should be $22.50. Blank stare. I wasn't going to argue with him or pull it up on my phone because I was just so turned off by his blasé attitude at that point I didn't want to give him any money. He buzzed me out and I left. Their competition, Club Philly, might not be the newest kid on the block, but compared to this place, their attendants are always helpful and professional. Take your business to where they actually try to make an effort.
