Moved By Your Words: Poetry and Dance Collide

Brothers and their guests are invited to participate in the first event of centennial week celebration called “Moved by Your Words: Dance and Poetry Collide.” This performance event will highlight the triumphs of African American masculinity and convey through contemporary dance that men of color are resilient irrespective of much adversity. The performances will divide into three movements, each preceded by a spoken word introduction. Each movement will highlight one theme past, present or future of the African American experience. Additionally, the soundtrack will sample from the Jazz Age, Blues, Contemporary R&B and Electronica. Rho Chapter is pleased to welcome choreographer Tommie Waheed-Evans ( Waheed Works, UARTS, Philadanco) and Renowned poet Greg “Just Greg” Corbin The Performance Garage, a Philadelphia institution, is the venue for the beginning of what is sure to be a most delightful and memorable weekend.
