No Other (Philly) http://no-other.org/
"The very name No Other carries a defiance and elusiveness, characteristics that are amply evident in the songs they write. The Philadelphia-based group doesn't shy away from either primal rock or propulsive pop but they don't follow straight lines; there is roiling mystery lurking within their instrumental interplay, yet this darkness is leavened by both their unapologetically direct attack and the inherent tunefulness of their songs. Their songs are spiky and intense but not alienating; at their core, they're pop songs but they're delivered with an energy that masks their precision. No Other makes vital, vibrant music that ignores trends in favor of building upon an independent rock legacy that stretches back past the initial punk explosion of the late '70s, creating a sound that is rich, complex, and mature yet never complacent."
Hailey Wojcik (Brooklyn, NY) www.youtube.com/haileywojcik
Hailey Wojcik (voy-check) is an indie singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn & Michigan. Her solo EP, "Book of Beasts" will be released in February 2015. My Old Kentucky Blog says she “sounds mighty fine at volumes that may disturb others who may be in the room with you." Her darkly witty lyrics and aesthetic have earned her the title of "the Wednesday Addams of her genre" (the Deli mag). Her music and videos have caught the attention of such outlets as MTV, Logo, and The Daily What. Along with director and editor Audrey Culver, she has co-directed several music videos, many of which included her own stop-motion animation.
Dan Ex Machina (Collingswood, NJ)
"90s college rock that's kind of mad it left high school so don't tell it that it's already graduated university, with personal lyrics designed to take your guard down and floor you with the guitar-work, only to disappoint with shoddy drum loops!" --JJ Lang
About PWP: Permanent Wave is a network and community of feminist artists and activists. We seek to challenge gender inequality not only in all forms of the arts, but also in politics, our personal lives, and anywhere else it seems necessary. We want to continue what was started generations ago by creating a revolutionary arts movement and community that's relevant to women, LGBTQ-identified people, people of color, and anyone who has been excluded from subjective mainstream norms. We want you to join, collaborate, and inspire us.
