4th Annual Dog Days of Summer Hot Dog Cook-Off

Fire up those grills! (sizzle) The 4th Annual Dog Days of Summer Hot Dog Cook-Off is back with dozens of the region’s top restaurants and food trucks going grill-to-grill to win the Dog Days Trophy. Join us under the Shambles and sample the most flavorful, unique and inventive hot dogs while enjoying craft beer, live music, and other summertime fun. WHO'S TOP DOG? A panel of judges will award three prizes to the top professional grill masters, including $1,000 first place award. The ticket-buying public will also have the opportunity to try all of the hot dog creations and vote for their “fan favorite” dog. BEYOND THE DOG Beer - Victory Brewing will be back this year along with The Boston Beer Company. Pops - Mom Pops will return with their natural fruity ice pops to cool us down. Ahhh! Music - Swift Technique will have us jamming in the streets of Headhouse Square. DOGS FOR A CAUSE Funds raised will support the preservation of the historic Headhouse Square Shambles. The Shambles is America’s oldest surviving Colonial-era marketplace, also known as “New Market.” Built before the Revolution in 1745, its design mimics the many market structures or rural England – characterized by two parallel rows of brick pillars supporting a gable roof that covers an arched and plastered ceiling. Farmers, merchants, traders, and craftsmen would back their wagons under the archway where Colonists would shop. Headhouse Square Farmers' Market, Phair, Veg Fest, Green Fest, Philly Beer Week Beer Garden and many other events all call the Shambles their home during the year.
