The Phenomenal Animals Present: THE BACCHAE: A Ritual Blood Sacrifice Euripedes Directed by Rob C. Thompson Come for the revolt, stay for the orgy. The cult of Dionysus, a frenzied group of women on the fringes of Greek society spend their days dancing, drinking, and challenging the powers that be. When Pentheus, king of Thebes, refuses to acknowledge their leader as a god they wreak havoc on the city. In an act of revenge the cult, known as the Bacchae, invokes the god and a crazed ritual of blood, sex, and revelry ensues. The Bacchae invite you to participate in their rite. See, touch, feel the action. This is your initiation.
