Susan Isaacs is Professor of Art History at University in Maryland where she teaches advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses in modern and contemporary art. She is also Curator of the Department of Art Galleries there. In addition, she is the adjunct curator in charge of programming for the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts where she has been since March of 2001, but has organized shows for the institution in the past as well as other contemporary art spaces. Isaacs is responsible for a programming schedule of over thirty exhibitions per year at the DCCA and Towson University. She has published articles for Metalsmith, Surface Design Journal, and FiberArts, among others. Professor Isaacs owned and operated her own commercial gallery in the late 1980s and early 90s in Wilmington, DE through which she published a national arts magazine entitled: Perception. She also co-hosted a radio show, Delaware State of the Arts, for many years. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and until quite recently, a practicing artist herself. Her graduate degrees in art history are from the University of Delaware.
