Less than a year ago, my brother died from a heroin overdose laced with fentanyl. He was 20 years old. At the time, I didn't know much about heroin or addiction other than what I saw on TV and movies. Since then, I've learned a lot. I've seen others struggle and others pass away from this disease. It's occurring more and more frequently. Addicts need to be able to get themselves help. When someone suffers from addiction, the whole family suffers as well.

Addiction isn't just something that’s seen in movies and TV. It isn't just dealt with by rock stars and those being confronted on "Intervention." It's real, it's in our community, and it affects more people than you realize. Whether you're aware of it or not, you know someone with some sort of addiction. Addiction is a disease - a disease that’s attached with a stigma. Addiction knows no boundaries and doesn't discriminate. Everyone's story is unique. Everybody deserves the opportunity to get access to treatment. By joining us in this walk, you're helping to raise money to help those directly affected by this disease within our community.
Walk with us at the Pro-Act Recovery Walk to help raise money to help support those affected by substance abuse disorders and their families.
Our team name: Wounded Walkers
What is PRO-ACT? It stands for "Pennsylvania Recovery Organization - Achieving Community Together." Pretty much, funds raised by the walk go toward serving the recovery community with services designed to help people access and sustain long-term recovery. The funds help individuals who live in the area (counties of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and Delaware). The proceeds are also used to educate the public and media, raise awareness, fight the stigma associated with addiction, and provide individual recovery support.
Registration is quick, easy, and FREE. Here's how:
