**Poets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. BRING A HAIKU. If at 8:45 there are more than 16 poets signed up to slam we'll have a head to head haiku battle. Poets who put their name in the hat pay $5. At 9:00pm poets names will be picked out of the hat. Some poets will be pre-selected.**
The Pigeon* is excited to announce that this month's feature and workshop** leader:
ALYESHA WISE
is a poet from Camden, NJ. She wrote her first poem at the age of 11 and has not stopped creating since.
She is the 2014 Hollywood Grand Slam Champion. She is a 2-time Women of the World Poetry Slam finalist and a 2-time Philadelphia Grand Slam Champion.
In addition to being an artist, she is an advocate of human rights, strongly believing that a focus on proper knowledge, love and self-awareness are healing forces for all.
She is the co-founder of the Philly Pigeon and current slam master for Los Angeles' premiere poetry venue, Da Poetry Lounge. Alyesha's first book of poetry, Carnival, will be available in Fall of 2016 under not a cult media.
