Transgender Day of Remembrance

The 20th of November 2017 will mark the day of the 18th Annual International Transgender Day of Remembrance and will be the 12th successive year we have observed the TDoR at TPUUF. The Welcoming Congregation Team of the Social Action Committee working jointly with the Worship Committee will hold a service and candlelight vigil for the Transgender Day of Remembrance, Resistance and Resilience (TDoRRR) on Monday November 20, 2017 at 7:00PM. This year we are expanding the scope for our gathering. We will commemorate with Remembrance for those lives taken in the past year. We will also pledge our fight for Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming people's rights with Resistance and we will celebrate the Resilience of this strong group of people as the struggle continues for rights and non-descrimination. The event is held internationally every November in memory of Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28, 1998 kicked off the Remembering Our Dead project and began the tradition of holding candlelight vigils.
