CHOIR BOY

Set at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys, "Choir Boy" (written by Tarell Alvin McCraney (writer of 2017 Academy Award winner "Moonlight") takes place at an elite academy for African-American youth, and centers on five members of the school’s celebrated choir. The choir’s gifted leader, Pharus, is effeminate, but whether or not he is actually gay is initially unclear. However, his fellow singers have made their minds up and verbally abuse him. The headmaster and a teacher on the verge of retirement try to intervene and confront the tensions surrounding adolescent feelings. Will Pharus conform to expectations and gain the respect he needs?
