Mayor Michael Nutter, the Office of LGBT Affairs for the City of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations are proud to host the 3rd Annual LGBT History Month Celebration and Flag Raising Ceremony!

Mayor Michael Nutter, the Office of LGBT Affairs for the City of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations are proud to host the 3rd Annual LGBT History Month Celebration and Flag Raising Ceremony!
The event will take place on October 5th at 2:00pm - at the flagpoles located at the northeast corner of City Hall.
The rainbow flag will fly alongside the stars and stripes in honor of LGBT History Month. The flag goes up on October 5th and will fly for the month. We invite all community members and allies to join with us at the celebration.
This year's event will highlight several key events:
** 30th anniversary of Philadelphia's "Gay Rights Bill" that provides for public accommodation, housing, and employment protections on the basis of sexual orientation
** LGBT-friendly Senior Housing project - the nation's largest LGBT-friendly capital building project. With City and State funding support, the Senior Housing project will house 56 units in a 6-story building in the heart of the Gayborhood.
The project, led by the Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld Fund, Pennrose Properties, and the energy and will of Mark Segal will break ground later in October. http://dmhfund.org/our-projects/william-way-senior-residences

Philadelphia's LGBT History Month Celebration aims to inspire through the work of our fantastic community organizations that in partnership with the City of Philadelphia, help us give meaning to the fight for full equality.
