If you're reading this, there's a very good chance that you've attended the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference in the past few years. It's also likely that you've watched an event that was founded by trans women give in to the ever-increasing demands of trans men for excessive representation.
Each year, the amount of space devoted to men at PTHC has increased to the point where the event has become yet another reminder that trans women and CAMAB genderqueers are - at best - barely tolerated in mainstream queer spaces. This has been commented on for much of the conference's history, yet the people behind it have continued to shunt the trans femmes in attendance to the side while it caters to an increasingly privileged few. It is time to accept that they are incapable of doing anything different.
So, instead, we will do something different ourselves.
On June 5 and 6th, every trans woman and CAMAB genderqueer reading this is invited to cross the river for the first ever West Philadelphia Trans Femme Conference. The space is small and there won't be a TD Bank sign out front, but it will be an event wholly defined by the needs of trans femmes. We've deserved that for a long time; now it's ours.
Please invite any trans femmes you know who would be interested. Keep an eye on this page for updates.
