Dont' always trust the bad reviews!

Regardless of some of the bad reviews, my girlfriend and I came in town from Detroit and decided to go out on a Thursday night and we went to Sisters. We did not expect a whole lot on a weekday but we sure were surprised! $10 cover not only got you in, but you got tickets for 8 free drinks and a buffet from 9:30-11:00. It was a dinner quality buffet! We got there at 9:00 to see around 20 ladies, by 10:00 there were over 80+ girls. Attractive fun crowd! Staff was so friendly(both nights since we went back again Fri). I recommend this bar very highly! If I had a bar like this in Detroit I might make it out on a weekly basis! WE LOVED THIS BAR!

wow....disaster....

Went here on my recent trip with a girlfriend for her birthday. There was a fight at the downstairs bar, and instead of kicking everyone out that was fighting, they let one girl stay. So then this girl gets into another fight and another and then the bartenders are jumping in.....what the hell? Kick them all out! Bar staff shouldn't play favorites. Dirty, but the music was really good.

Always a fun night

Sisters is the only bar in the city that caters to women. The crowd is totally diverse: young, old, bio-women, transwomen, black, white. They have some pretty great drink specials. My favorite is the happy hour where you can get dollar drafts (and they have Stella and Blue Moon on draft too!) and two dollar martinis! Craziness! The dance floor is totally crowded on Thursday and Saturday. the special event parties they throw change up the pace of the bar, too. Overall, Sisters is one of the few gay bars in the city that have everything--food, dancefloor, pool table, and kareoke. Can't beat it.

Great Sunday brunch

I'm a guy and we went for brunch. It's a lesbian owned and run bar/restaurant/club. We were warmly welcomed, the food was fabulous, and the service was top class. They do a brunch spread. All you can eat. The made to order omelet was the best I have ever had. I mean EVER. They also have lots of other food for the taking including bacon, sausage, pasta dishes, chicken, and a fabulous salad area. About $12. Awesome.

Oh the lack of options...

There are not a lot of spaces for ladies only in Philadelphia, and Sisters is definitely the best known. I don't really know what audience they cater to, but I don't think it's me. The space is actually quite good, but the whole look and feel is very outdated - way overdue for an update, feels like the early 90's are just starting... The first floor bar is large and sits lots of people. It's a fun area, specially on karaoke nights. Speaking of, Sisters puts a lot of special events, which is one of the best things about this place. Lots of flirting in this spot. Downstairs there is a pool table that's usually not that hard to get to (a rare thing!). This room is smaller and usually not very inviting if there are already people there playing. Upstairs is the dance floor, surrounded by two other bars, which accommodates quite a lot of people. The DJing is generally bad, nothing a good iPod playlist on random wouldn't accomplish - definitely lacks character. Because the crowd is very diverse, I think they just want to try to please everyone (with not such great results). Sisters is not what I would hope for in a fun girl-friendly hangout, but all in all, it seems to continue to attract a diverse crowd.
